FAQs

Our Most Common Dental Questions:

Why Choose Us?

We understand that dealing with tooth pain can be incredibly stressful, especially when it seems to come and go without warning. This unpredictability can disrupt your life, making it hard to plan activities or enjoy meals. Our goal is to provide you with lasting relief by addressing the root cause of your pain with the most advanced and effective dental treatments available. Whether you need a routine checkup or are concerned about how much a teeth cleaning costs without insurance, we’re committed to providing top-notch care at an affordable price.

Our team is committed to providing not just treatment, but also education and prevention strategies to help you avoid future dental problems. We take the time to explain your condition, the reasons behind your tooth pain, and the best ways to prevent it from recurring. This patient-centered approach ensures that you leave our office not only feeling better but also empowered with the knowledge to maintain your dental health.

Don’t let tooth pain control your life, or wait for it to become unbearable before seeking help. If you’re struggling with tooth pain that comes and goes, or if you’re unsure why your toothache persists, contact us today. We’ll help you understand why the pain continues and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that ensures you won’t have to deal with recurring pain.

If you’ve ever experienced tooth pain that comes and goes, you know how frustrating and debilitating it can be. The pain may strike suddenly, leaving you unable to eat, sleep, or concentrate on daily tasks. Whether it’s a sharp, stabbing sensation or a dull, pulsating tooth pain, these symptoms can be concerning and often lead to a lot of anxiety. The situation becomes even more perplexing when the pain seems to vanish, only to return later, sometimes more intensely than before. So, why do toothaches come and go, and what can be done to solve them effectively?

It’s a common hope that tooth pain will simply disappear without any intervention. However, this is rarely the case and can be a dangerous misconception. While you may experience periods of relief, these are often short-lived, and the pain tends to return, sometimes more severe than before. If you’re dealing with unbearable tooth pain or tooth pain that comes and goes, it’s a sign that something more serious might be happening beneath the surface. Ignoring the pain could lead to more significant problems, such as abscesses, infections spreading to other areas of the body, or even tooth loss.

The idea that tooth pain might go away on its own is tempting to believe, especially if the pain isn’t constant. But the reality is that toothaches are often symptoms of a deeper issue that won’t resolve itself without proper care. Whether it’s a small cavity that has started to cause discomfort or an infection that’s beginning to spread, these problems need to be addressed by a dentist to prevent further complications. In some cases, the temporary relief you feel might be due to the nerve inside the tooth dying, which can lead to even more severe issues if not treated.

There are various types of tooth pain, each signaling different underlying issues that may not always be apparent. For instance, a sharp, stabbing pain when biting down could indicate a cracked tooth or an exposed nerve. This type of pain is often acute and may be triggered by specific actions like chewing or exposure to cold foods. On the other hand, a dull, throbbing ache might suggest an infection deep within the tooth or gums, which can be more difficult to diagnose without professional evaluation. For many people, the most confusing scenario is tooth pain that comes and goes. This intermittent pain can leave you wondering, “Why won’t my toothache go away?”

The nature of fluctuating pain is often linked to factors like nerve irritation or varying levels of inflammation within the tooth or surrounding gum tissue. For example, you might feel intense pain after consuming hot or cold beverages, which then subsides, giving you false hope that the issue has resolved itself. However, it’s important to understand that even if the pain seems to subside temporarily, the underlying problem—whether it’s an infection, cavity, or structural damage—may still be present and could worsen if left untreated.

At our dental practice, we specialize in diagnosing and treating a wide range of dental issues, including those that cause tooth pain. Whether you’re experiencing on-and-off tooth pain or wondering how long a toothache can last, we have the expertise and solutions to help you find relief. Our approach is comprehensive and personalized, ensuring that we address not just the symptoms but the root cause of your discomfort.

For patients experiencing a toothache with no visible cavity, the pain could be due to other issues such as gum disease, impacted wisdom teeth, or even a sinus infection that is referred to the teeth. Differentiating between gum pain vs. tooth pain is crucial, as the treatment for these conditions varies significantly. Our detailed examinations and diagnostic tools allow us to accurately identify the source of your pain and provide the appropriate treatment, whether that involves a simple filling, a root canal, or other interventions.

In cases where swelling accompanies the pain, such as swelling in the face due to a tooth infection, it’s critical to address this promptly. Swelling can indicate a serious infection that, if left untreated, could spread to other parts of your body, leading to severe health complications. We offer effective treatments to bring down swelling and alleviate pain, including antibiotics, drainage of abscesses, and emergency dental procedures. While home remedies like hydrogen peroxide for tooth pain can offer temporary relief, they are not a substitute for professional care. If you’ve tried using hydrogen peroxide for a toothache and still find yourself asking, “How long does cavity pain last?” it’s time to see a dentist to prevent the situation from worsening.

Maintaining clean and healthy teeth is essential not just for a bright smile but also for overall health. Regular dental cleanings are a key part of oral hygiene, helping to prevent cavities, gum disease, and other dental issues. At our practice, we offer comprehensive teeth cleaning services designed to keep your teeth in top condition. But how often should you get your teeth cleaned, and what does the process involve? Let’s explore how we can help keep your teeth clean and why it’s important to prioritize this routine care.

A dental cleaning, often referred to as prophylaxis, is a procedure that involves the removal of plaque and tartar from your teeth to prevent cavities, gum disease, and other dental issues. There are different types of dental cleaning, depending on your needs. A routine dental cleaning is usually recommended for most patients, but for those who have been diagnosed with gum disease, a deeper cleaning known as scaling and root planing may be necessary.

During a typical dental cleaning, our skilled hygienists use specialized tools to thoroughly clean your teeth, targeting areas that regular brushing and flossing can’t reach. This process not only leaves your teeth feeling smooth and clean but also helps to remove stains and prevent the buildup of bacteria. So, how long does a dental cleaning take? On average, a routine dental cleaning takes about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the level of plaque and tartar buildup.

The frequency of dental cleanings depends on your oral health needs. For most people, it’s recommended to have their teeth cleaned every six months. This helps to maintain oral hygiene and catch any potential issues early on. However, for those with a history of gum disease or those prone to plaque buildup, more frequent cleanings, such as every three to four months, may be necessary. If you’re wondering how often teeth cleaning should be done in your specific case, our dental professionals can help determine the best schedule for you based on your oral health.

Regular dental cleanings are also important because they allow us to monitor your overall oral health. Routine dental checkups during your cleaning visits give us the opportunity to spot any signs of trouble early, such as cavities, gum disease, or other oral health issues, so they can be treated before they become more serious.

One of the most common questions we hear is, “How much does a teeth cleaning cost?” The answer depends on a few factors, including the type of cleaning needed and whether you have dental insurance. Because insurance coverage can vary, we’re happy to help you check your benefits and give you a clear estimate before treatment.

For patients without insurance, or for those looking for more predictable dental care costs, we offer an in-house membership plan. This plan helps cover expenses such as twice-yearly dental exams and cleanings, along with discounts on other procedures. It’s designed to make quality dental care more affordable and accessible for everyone.

If you’re curious about what happens during a dental cleaning, you’re not alone. Many patients ask, “Which describes the typical procedure during a dental cleaning?” A standard cleaning involves several steps:

  1. Examination: Before the cleaning begins, our dental hygienist will perform a brief examination of your mouth to look for any signs of cavities, gum disease, or other issues. This helps us tailor the cleaning to your specific needs.

  2. Plaque and Tartar Removal: Using a small mirror and scaler, the hygienist will carefully remove plaque and tartar around your teeth and gum line. Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that can harden into tartar if not removed, leading to cavities and gum disease.

  3. Deep Cleaning (if necessary): For patients who require a more thorough cleaning, scaling and root planing might be performed. This process involves cleaning below the gum line to remove tartar and bacteria that contribute to gum disease.

  4. Polishing: After the plaque and tartar are removed, your teeth will be polished to remove surface stains, leaving them smooth and shiny.

  5. Flossing and Rinsing: Finally, the hygienist will floss between your teeth to remove any remaining debris and ask you to rinse your mouth to wash away any particles.

The entire process is designed to be comfortable and efficient, with the aim of leaving your teeth feeling clean and your mouth healthy.

Regular dental cleanings are about more than just keeping your smile bright. They play a critical role in preventing serious dental issues that could lead to more invasive and costly treatments down the line. If you’re wondering how often you should go to the dentist for a cleaning, the general rule of thumb is every six months, but it could be more or less depending on your oral health.

For patients with dental implants, regular cleaning is equally important. The dental implant cleaning cost might vary, but maintaining clean implants is crucial to prevent peri-implantitis, a condition similar to gum disease that can affect the surrounding tissues of the implant.

In summary, keeping your teeth clean is essential for maintaining good oral health, and our dental practice is here to help you achieve that. Whether you need a routine checkup or are concerned about how much does a teeth cleaning cost without insurance, we’re committed to providing top-notch care at an affordable price. Don’t wait until problems arise—schedule your dental cleaning today and keep your smile healthy and bright.

DR SANCHEZ AND HIS STAFF ARE THE GREATEST!!
I’ve been a patient of Dr Sanchez for several years and he’s worked dental magic in my mouth. He took care of problems I had for years with my upper teeth by installing an all-on-four implant! No problems now!! Several implants in my lower jaw solved more problems. I now happily return to his office for routine checkups and cleaning. Over the years I’ve had several hygienists perform the cleaning and they have all been very thorough and professional—my mouth feels great when I leave the office. Dr Sanchez has a remarkable staff (office and technical) supporting him. I hope his services are available as long as I have teeth!!
I recommend him to anyone who needs dental work!! With all this Covid nonsense it’s nice to have medical folks you can rely on….and you can rely on Dr, Sanchez.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Blane! We're delighted to hear that you've been a satisfied patient for years and appreciate your loyalty to our Henderson location. We look forward to continuing to provide you with exceptional care.
From the moment you call the office you feel welcome and comfortable. I took my son who is 6 for a second opinion and they made him feel comfortable during the initial exam. When we returned for his procedure the assistant and doc explained everything to him and were extremely patient with him when he felt uneasy especially when he heard the drill. My son left the office feeling good, and happy to return in the future. Couldn’t have asked for a better visit.
